MANILA, Philippines — In time for International Museum Day and National Heritage Month, LG Electronics Philippines expanded its partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) through the donation of 41 LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, strengthening its support for the preservation of cultural, historical, and natural heritage across the country.

The turnover ceremony was held on May 18 at the National Museum of Natural History, a fitting venue for the expanded donation. The museum features permanent galleries that showcase the Philippines’ rich biological and geological diversity, with its iconic “Tree of Life” symbolically linking the country’s ecosystems from mountains to marine reefs.

This year’s donation builds on LG’s previous partnership with the National Museum. In 2025, LG donated 21 dehumidifier units to help maintain ideal indoor conditions and protect priceless artworks at the National Museum of Fine Arts. With the new batch of 41 LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, the partnership now expands beyond one site to support collections in the National Museum of Anthropology, the National Museum of Natural History, and regional component museums.

Expanding climate care support for museum collections

The 2026 allocation includes 6 units for the National Museum of Anthropology and 15 units for the National Museum of Natural History, with the remaining units distributed to regional museums across the country. These include NMP sites and galleries in Kiangan, Baler, Kabayan, Ilocos, Bicol, Tabon, Bohol, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, San Jose de Buenavista, Davao, and Zamboanga.

For museums, climate care plays an important role in protecting collections. Humidity can affect artworks, textiles, artifacts, natural specimens, and other materials over time. By helping manage moisture inside museum spaces, dehumidifiers support the National Museum’s continuing work to preserve collections for future generations.

Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director, LG Electronics Philippines, said, “At LG, we believe our role as a company goes beyond delivering technology. It also means finding meaningful ways to support the communities we serve. Through this continued partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines, we are honored to contribute to the preservation of the country’s cultural and natural heritage. This donation reflects our commitment to corporate citizenship and to using LG’s resources and innovation to help protect important collections for future generations.”

Jave Enriquez, Product Marketing Manager for ES-RAC, LG Electronics Philippines, added, “This donation marks the expansion of LG’s long-term partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines. Through this new batch of LG PuriCare™ Dehumidifiers, we are glad to support not only the National Museum of Natural History, but also galleries and museums in other parts of the country.”

Supporting heritage preservation beyond Metro Manila

The expanded donation also reflects the broader role of museums in connecting communities to culture, history, science, and identity. This is especially timely as International Museum Day 2026 carries the global theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” highlighting the role of museums as bridges for dialogue, understanding, inclusion, and peace. In the Philippines, the turnover also falls within National Heritage Month, which is observed every May to promote consciousness, respect, and love for the legacies of Filipino cultural history.

By extending support to regional component museums, LG Philippines helps bring climate care technology closer to collections that tell stories from different parts of the country. From anthropology and natural history galleries in Manila to regional museum spaces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the donation supports the National Museum’s work of caring for materials that reflect the richness and diversity of Filipino heritage.

Jeremy Barns, Director-General of the National Museum of the Philippines, said, “Temperature and relative humidity are one of the challenges museums face, especially in a tropical environment. Moisture in the air can contribute to mold, dampness, and deterioration, which is why dehumidifiers play an important role in helping us care for collections. These units allow us to better manage gallery conditions and support our ongoing work to preserve the country’s cultural and natural heritage.”

Barns also noted the continuing value of the partnership between LG and the National Museum, which has grown over the years through previous donations of display technologies and dehumidifiers for museum use.

“Our partnership with LG has grown over the years, beginning with donations of OLED TVs for our galleries and continuing now with dehumidifiers that directly support the preservation of our collections,” Barns added. “What we value is the sincerity and professionalism behind the partnership. LG continues to ask how it can help, and for an institution like ours, that kind of support is meaningful.”

Technology in service of culture

For LG Philippines, the donation reflects how home and climate care technology can serve a broader public purpose. The same innovations designed to help create more comfortable indoor environments can also support institutions that protect shared heritage, from paintings and textiles to natural specimens and regional cultural materials.

As the National Museum continues to preserve and share the country’s cultural and natural treasures, LG Philippines’ expanded donation represents a practical contribution to that mission: helping protect the spaces where Filipinos encounter the stories, knowledge, and heritage that connect generations.

Through its continued partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines, LG reinforces its belief that Life’s Good when technology helps protect what matters.
