Filipino pop-rock outfit NOBITA is back with another heartfelt ballad that expresses a vow of lifelong commitment and eternal love.
NOBITA claims that they wrote their new single “Gitna” specifically for celebrity vloggers Cong and Viy, who recently tied the knot last month. The breakthrough band initially performed it in front of the newlyweds as a surprise gift.
“When we wrote the track, we thought of a scenario where Viy was walking down the aisle, and Cong was patiently waiting, trying to make sense of his feelings at that moment,” shares NOBITA in a collective statement, who also happened to be good friends of the online personalities. “We want to capture the buildup of excitement and anticipation, but most of all, the journey leading to the romantic milestone.”
The band adds, “Their love isn’t perfect by all means, but we’ve witnessed through the years how they’ve managed to work their differences together and make room for adjustments and compromise to reach this far. This prompted us to compose a song that perfectly fits the narrative.”
Buoyed by swoony instrumentation and emotionally riveting arrangements, NOBITA’s “Gitna” makes every wedding feel like an enormous love fest. Musically speaking, the track showcases the band’s penchant for sentimental lyricism, made more impactful by soaring choruses and earworm melodies of the first-rate caliber.
NOBITA is a five-piece band composed of Jaeson Felismino (vocals, acoustic guitar), Sam Aquino (lead guitar), Mark Quintero (bass), Richmond Bancolita (keyboards), and Jonathan Agbanlog (drums). The alternative rock/pop band recently broke records with “Ikaw Lang,” which was the most streamed OPM song in 2022.
Nobita’s “Gitna” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
