Payoneer’s Senior Director for Customer Success at APAC, Monique Avila, welcomed the audience at the Payoneer VIP Connect Manila, held at the Makati Shangri-la. She emphasized the brand’s commitment to facilitating seamless cross-border transactions and leveraging digital innovations to empower local SMBs.

The information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry is breaking new ground, as the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) is projecting the sector to grow to $40 billion in revenue in 2024. Similarly, the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) is also seeing growth on the horizon foreseeing a $32.16 billion revenue for the year for the contact center and business process outsourcing industries.

Payoneer (NASDAQ: PAYO) is leading the way in empowering the industry to transact, do business, and grow globally with its world’s leading cross-border payments platform.

The financial technology company recently held its first Payoneer VIP Connect in Manila, where leaders shared insights and action-oriented strategies for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to smash obstacles and seize global growth opportunities. This regional networking event, dubbed “Going Global – Building a BPO Powerhouse,” was organized by Payoneer and DigitalCFO Asia.

Outsourcing in the Philippines

The Philippines has long been regarded as a global hub for business process outsourcing (BPO). Businesses choose to outsource to the Philippines as the country offers competitive costs, ease of doing business, cultural alignment, and proficiency in the English language.

Startups are proving that outsourcing in the Philippines is greatly improving and that the industry drives more diversified services. The Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines(HIMAP), the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) are just some communities offering services outside call centers. Meanwhile, the Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Philippines (ANZCHAM) is working closely with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) to strongly promote the Philippines as a BPO provider.

Demand for talent and expertise is high, but businesses miss out on cross-border opportunities because they do not have the proper infrastructure. Payment systems may not be able to handle multiple currencies, or local regulations may delay the transfer of funds from abroad.

Cross-border payments with Payoneer

Payoneer believes doing business globally should be as easy and hassle-free as doing it locally.

Driven by its commitment to enable any business anywhere to succeed in the digital global economy, we make it easier for millions of SMBs around the globe to pay and get paid and grow their business globally.

Moreover, Monique Avila, Payoneer’s Senior Director for Customer Success at APAC, shared that Payoneer includes advanced detection mechanisms to verify account access and prevent unauthorized external sign-ins.

At the Payoneer VIP Connect in Manila, businesses stress the importance of lightning-fast service. “What’s been fun with working with Payoneer is that if you have any issues with payments, they’re just a call away. They’re just a chat away,” revealed Penn Camille Lat, the Founder and Co-CEO of Virtua Outsourcing Solutions.

Carlo Angelo Orbe, the CEO of Task Me Quick, raised the significance of compliance, especially with the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001, or AMLA. He said, “We’ve faced challenges when receiving funds from the U.S. due to Philippine AMLA regulations. The monitoring process often resulted in delays of two to three weeks before the funds would arrive.”

Orbe added, “For a startup like ours, timely access to funds is critical for smooth operations. Enter Payoneer—a game-changer for us. By partnering with Payoneer, we’ve streamlined the process. Funds are now posted within a mere 48 hours, alleviating our previous anxiety when dealing with clients outside our platform. It’s a solution that truly puts our minds at ease.” Similarly, Marla Rausch, CEO of Animation Vertigo, echoed the same relief and convenient experience she said “I’m working with several companies and investors, Payoneer made it easy for me to accept funds coming from a U.S. or a U.K. bank.”

Payoneer simplifies the payment experience so SMBs can focus on reaching new markets, doing business in multiple currencies, and complying with local regulations.

“In this borderless economy, Payoneer is here to empower businesses—especially BPOs—to thrive globally,” said Avila.
